Moral awareness and recognising issues of moral content or the violation of ethical principles, is a critical first step in the ethical decision-making process. Moral awareness is also critical as ethical issues are generally complex and rarely black or white, furthermore, ethical choices are not always clear. We therefore are better placed to identify and deal with ethical issues more effectively if we can recognise and mitigate our biases and by arming ourselves with the right tools, vocabulary and critical thinking that can guide us and improve our ethical decision making.
